With my joints growing stiffer and more painful day by day and the plaid shorts I still fit into falling to pieces, I have come to the conclusion that I need to make some serious changes in my lifestyle. This entry is a freewrite of ideas that should eventually become a solid fitness-increase plan.
As of today I'm beginning a very lax dietary adjustment plan that has yet to materialize out of the aether. The basic ideas behind it relate to portion control, increased variety and more awareness of what's eaten. Precepts that will definitely be involved include buying sandwiches instead of combo meals when eating out, drinking water instead of teas or sodas, significantly cutting portions and frequncy of eating out in general, and when at home stretching meals farther by eating less and saving more. Some other good ideas would be vegetable requirements and rigid eating schedules, but it's still a work in progress. Any ideas, leave 'em as comments and I"ll "take them into consideration" :-)
Exercise-wise, I hope to have a plan figured out by the end of this week. It should involve a good amount of running, hopefully some swimming/rowing/lifting (depending on the exercise facilities at my new apartment) and a LOT of stretching. In June I'm planning on a Beginner Aikido class on movement on Tuesday nights, and I my try and get involved with some yoga group or other around the Raleigh area. Once State gets back to me about grad school I may go back to Carmichael Gym again, I much enjoyed my exercise program there. Any recommendations on the exercise front are also welcome.
Hopefully by June I can have a plan worked out to help me get fit and save money without making myself miserable, but we'll see. Peace out ya'll
