So I got through the hardest part of this deployment, the holidays :(. It wasn't too bad, we had awesome group meals on thanksgiving and Christmas, I think we are having steaks today when I go to work. I have to admit, Thanksgiving and Christmas felt special, like holidays should, but new years was just another day. It makes you realize how much friends, family, and partying makes the new years the holiday it is. Happy new years to everyone! Hope no ones hangover is too unbearable. I owe it to myself to celebrate extra hard next year for all three holidays to make up for this year in Kandahar.
So the first of Jan means exactly one month left! Woohooooo. To get me through the weeks I look forward to football sunday in middle of the week and then my day off to end my week. Sunday no longer begins or ends a week, my day off does god damnit lol. At least the Eagles and Giants made the playoffs, although I'm not 100% on the Giants they lost like their last 3-4 games (what the fuck Giants...). I like rooting for the Jets because they have Fav-re, go Packers because their new Qb has to try that much harder to fill Fav-res shoes (although I don't think they made it, it was a bumby season). Fuck the Jaguars, you will always be fags, fuck the Cowboys and T.O., you are an over-rated glorified faggot who gets paid to much. Go Titans the once undefeated underpraised team! Enough of that, I don't think anyone who reads this pays that much attention to football, neither do I but it occupies a lot of my time watching it once a week at work. I still am looking forward to the super bowl just because that means I'm down to like one week or something, yes I have no idea when the superbowl is :(. I know its like the end of Jan-early Feb so its pretty much when I'm leaving.
Supposedly the last month of the deployment feels like forever but I'm just gonna wing it and don't concentrate on it too much. It doesn't change anything, I still am stuck here and still have to bust my ass at work to get the planes in the air. I have to say though, if anything I have gained so much more confidence on this aircraft than I did back at creech. And of course a lot more knowledge but nothing is hard on this tinker toy. The only problem is I'm so much in the deployed mindset I'm gonna be fucked when I get back to Creech (what that needs an inspection? Fuck it I'll sign it....BOOOOOM OH GOD DID I SIGN THAT???). That is seriously not funny with the uhhh "mishaps" we've had and the two times I've had to give blood. It's still funny though when a staff buddy of mine makes it like his hand is a plane and imitates it crashing whenever we are doing maintenance on a plane. Oh god...
I look forward to seeing all you fags come April time frame, we will get plenty of drinking and fishing done. Anyone interested in trying to go to new orleans (mardi grah) over spring break? Just an idea....
