Next Step In Life: Japan

Hey everyone, whatsup xD. Now that I'm out of the country I'm gonna try to keep this more updated, for those people i don't get a chance to talk to everyday. I made it here safetly, after five and a half hours on the plane in the states and about twelve hours to get to kadena air force base. My sponsor came late because i told him i was supposed to be here thursday, not knowing i lost a day in the travel. So it worked out awesome because i got here just in time for the weekend, escaping all the briefings i have to go through until monday. Regretfully i made the trip in my blues, which i later found out i wasn't supposed to do since i was going international. So my flight chief decided to make us stop at the hangar so everyone can make fun of me for being in my blues ^^;;. I met everyone there (on swing shift) and came out laughing. The dissapointing part is starting off I'll be put on day shift most likely, so I won't see the people i met except on the weekend.

It might just be it hasn't hit me that I'm in a different country, but i was taken back by the shear number of asian people that were at the restaraunt i was just eating at. Now before you insult me or call me stupid, ask yourself how many asians do you really see during your day by day life. I don't know, it was just a brain fart or a realization of how little asians i knew and how many were in front of me at that shear second. I'm enjoying myself so far, exploring the base by foot. The weirdest thing is people drive on the wrong ( >< how arrogant to say the american way is the right way...) lane, and the driver seat is on the oposite side. Also the stop lights are different, going horizontal instead of vertical. It will all seem normal to me since i have yet to do much driving, but i will definetly be working on getting a license here and buying a cheap pos vehicle. The last main difference i see is there is only one american radio station, which tries to accomendate for all type of people by playing EVERY type of music. So i could be listening to rock or country one minute, and it could turn into rap another ><.
Also on my to do list is when it gets warmer out i want to take scuba diving lessons, ever since i saw a commercial for it i was sold xD. Now that will be an exciting experience and be a good story to tell. Along with scuba diving there will be a lot of fishing to be done, along with plenty of traveling off base. I've got two years here, I'm gonna try to make the best of out it xD.

I won't be on much until i can get a room at the dorms, which hopefully will be done by monday. Japan is fourteen hours ahead of New Jersey time, so I probably won't be able to make much phone calls to everyone. Hopefully if your reading this you know my email address, even a single email would be greatly appreciated, and i hope to talk to everyone at home very soon. Peace. Matt-o
