In a spirit completely against my current embracing of my own downward mobility, I had a brief moment of thinking 'damnit, everyone I admire, who has ever achieved anything, is younger than me! oh woe.' The list included LittleKuriboh (the maker of Yu-Gi-Oh the Abridged Series, Age: 24) and Randall Munroe (creator of XKCD webcomic, age: 22) and, ah, Emma Watson (aka Hermione, who is 17 - born in frikkin 1990 - 1990 people, WTF?) (but maybe the reason I like her is because she is so young... That applies to Rupert Grint, aka Ron, too.) Also Keira Knightley (who I don't particularly like, but for the sake of whining) turns 22 today (according to imbd) and she has pashed all sorts of people that I wouldn't object to pashing. And she gets paid for it!
But Michael Kelly, aka Ulrich Haarbürste, writer of THE BEST BOOK EVER WRITTEN: THE NOVEL OF ROY ORBISON IN CLING-FILM is not younger than me! (Do not take the fact that I cannot tell you what his age is as proof of my lying about his age. He is older than me! I swears.)
So hence I have no need to write a self-pitying rant that involve the words: 'If only I had talent, dedication and good luck, then I too could have by now blah blah blah...' because clearly to produce such staggering works of genius such as Ulrich Haarbürste's Novel of Roy Orbison in Cling-Film, you need age on your side. You need experience. You need to have lived (unlike Keira Knightley, who is clearly some sort of robot).
So I have plenty of time...
