Researching for a story
So.
I'm not gonna lie; I like stories about Vampire and Werewolves. The interesting bit, to me, is the society aspect. Like what rules do they follow, if any, and what happens if those rules aren't strictly adhered too.
And no - I hate TWILIGHT. Please, don't bring up Twilight unless you don't mind a diatribe about bad characters, plotting and writing. I just think it sucks. I will read ANYTHING but Twilight. I'd much rather watch it burn than read it.
Okay - I won't go on for that.
I have always wanted to do some sort of Werewolf society story. I think they are really strong creatures and kinda cool. I mean, depending on who's doing the writing. Like, I've read a Gundam Wing fan fic about a Werewolf society that was simply amazing.
Only, It's really hard to find anything on it. One would think that with all the werewolf books out there, someone would put together some sort of trope list to help. Right. I found a web site for a Werewolf something-something Society. That was absolutely no help whatsoever. I dunno if these creatures are real or not. I was once on a social networking site and someone contacted me saying that they were a Werewolf and blah, blah, blah - were there any packs in my area that'd help them out.
Ah.
I really took this note as a scam. I mean, Werewolves...generally - if they are real and from what I know - don't want people to know they are a Werewolf. Just like Vampires don't want people to know what they are. No really, I've done research on the Vampire thing - and they'll only show their fangs to people they trust or to their donors.
What with HIV and stuff these days, I guess Vampires can catch the disease so they always get their donors tested. I dunno if that is real or not, but, I for a writer it's actually quite an intriguing idea.
Anyway - back to the note.
I simply told this person that I was human and I was sorry about their Lycanthropy, explaining that all I knew ere the old myths. And that I hoped they found a pack one day. And that was the end of that. I wasn't gonna meet them or anything.
1) I'm a paranoid bitch.
2) People use Vampire and Werewolves as a way to mislead people who want to "become" these creatures. You can be anyone you want on the internet. A pedophile can pretend to be a Vampire, and a Twilight fanatic tween who knows shit about this sort of thing, will think its a good idea to go and meet this "Vampire". This kid will then discover too late that it was all a Lie.
I've always held to this theory. I haven't heard of it in the news, but really, it's not like parents explain to their kids that it's fiction. Some parent's don't have a nanny program on their computer to keep this sort of thing from happening and some parents just don't snoop enough to protect their kids.
I watch Date Line's to Catch a Predator, and ANYONE can go and meet a kid for sex. Pastor's, Rabbi's a solider in the US Military. I mean - dude - parents really need to step it up, explain to their kids what they can and cannot do on the net and when they find out their kid isn't going by the rules - Take the damned COMPUTER away from them.
It's called precaution for a reason. Thank you very much.
Damn, I've kinda gotten off the point of this post.
Anyway, the HP fic will be R/S slash. And it's gonna be AU. I dunno how I am gonna work it, but Remus won't be a trained Wizard. Like, the Werewolf law doesn't allow it. I think he'll be a bit more bitter about being bitten by Greyback, but he's gonna be stronger. Because I hated seeing him in Deathly Hollows. I mean...rug...he was so weak as a character. I mean, sure, it's normal to worry about your kid, but just as Harry told him off, Remus can be a Dad and it's shameful of him to abandon Teddy and Tonks.
So. I like a Remus Lupine who isn't that weak. I'm sorry. I felt better when he went back but I think it's simply out of duty and fear. I know he loves Tonks and Teddy but...meh, it didn't make it better.
So. If You're expecting that Remus Lupine.
It ain't gonna happen.
Also, Sirius Black is friends with James Potter and Peter Pettigrew. I dunno if I'll include that Voldemort Think in this story or not; I probably won't, but if I did it'd have to be in a sequel. I'll think on it. Just, as far as I know, it'd be too hard to concentrate on the relationship of Sirius and Remus if I include that other stuff.
Ummm....so.
I think the other stuff can be explained in the story.
