I read this and I loved it

Don't ask me why I'm wasting my time reading blog posts on Socialism or the power it has over the youth of today. The problem with teenagers is that they'll believe practically anything, same with college students who don't know better. I'm sorry, but I thought all that college nonesense was bull and never got invovled. Why? because I hate ( Read more... )

Anyway,
Socialism sucks and I wish my State could leave the Union. Texas did it, so why can't we do it?

Um - when did Texas leave the USA? Not that I would mind if they did, but...

Texas seceded from the Union in 1861.
And during the American Civil War many states seceded from the Union to form the Confederacy States.

And during the hayday of the Obamacare beingcoming legalized by the Senate and House - a few states threatened to secede from the Union because they didn't like that Obama was forcing it on - from their point of view - on the American People.

Well, the Civil War - see how well that worked for them.

States are constantly threatening to leave "the Union" over this or that or the other thing. Then they wise up and realize how much it would cost them in reality and STFU.

At any rate, I have no problem with pure socialism. Nor do I have a problem with citizens who have paid taxes getting help from the government in return. And, seriously, no disrespect to you, but as long as you're living with your parents and jobless, you're really not in a position to rant about other people getting handouts. Most writers - and I do mean most - do not earn their living by writing. They have jobs and write on the side.

Now, I have had jobs in the past and writen on the side. It just hasn't been working out on the job front for me and I think it's just a combination of things. I'm not blaming the gov because I can't get a job. That's my personal thing I gotta do.

Still - at the same time. I don't think it's right for people who CAN work to get handouts from the gov. I am all for people who are disabled or something to get help. That's totally fine by me.

Ah, the Civil War, from what I remember - it started over taxes.

The Civil War began over many issues. However, the primary social and economic issue was an economic system built on SLAVERY. The Civil War was not over taxes. It is really time to get the reviews books out if that is your recollection ( ... )

Yes, I agree, I do need to do a review. Okay, so to erm adendum my previous statement - Taxes was just one issue. As you've pointed out there were a lot ( ... )

Well, you see the problem here, though, right? If you didn't have Mom and Dad to fall back on, what would you do? What if you had a family to support instead of the other way around? You couldn't just say "It just hasn't worked out". You would have to have some way to survive. And that's when the government comes in. To make sure people can survive. To do what your parents are doing for you.

I just don't think it's right for you to get down on people who don't have their parents supporting them. There but for the grace of God...

Hmmmm...okay.

Lemme put it this way.

I want to help people. I do help people when I can. It's hard to give donations when you have nothing to give. Though, my family always gives to goodwill.

Anyway, what I am trying to say but not being very good at it, is that I dislike it when people take Advantage of the system.

The system is there to help the people in dire need and I don't blame them for it. I just don't want people who are perfecting able to take advantage of the system and take from someone else who actually needs the money.

Oh gee, I hope that explains it.
I'm sorry I've not been very good at getting my point across. I really do suck sometimes.

In total 11 states seceded from the Union during the Civil War. South Carolina was the first in December 1860 and the rest seceded during 1861. Texas was the seventh state overall to secede. The Civil War ended in April 1865. However, the process of readmission was a slow one. The final federal actions to readmit Texas to the United States did not come until March 30, 1870.

and all those eleven states were the Confederacy, correct? funny, I can't think of Texas be in the Confederacy but it's been a veyr long time since I've read up on the Civil War. *I am lame*

Eleven states seceded plus . . . reawakening2010 August 12 2011, 21:17:48 UTC
Yeah . . . you may want to do some refreshing. There were border states that did not secede but were divided like Delaware and Maryland. West Virginia split from Virginia and became a state. Missouri had a divided government. Kentucky had internal controversy. Also, Oklahoma and the New Mexico/Arizona territories were sympathetic to the Confederacy.

Yeah, it was a mess. It'd have been easier if they had social networking sites. *lol*

I learned all of this in high school - it sucks that my memory is so bad that I can't remember this stuff.

It is a big tent reawakening2010 August 12 2011, 19:22:58 UTC
Socialism is such a huge tent:
[just from my limited knowledge and recollection]
*Marxism
*British Labour Party
*Martin Luther King, Jr. and Desmond Tutu have been labeled as socialists
*Dorothy Day and the Catholic Social Justice Movement
*Hugo Chavez of Venezuela
*Stalinism
*Frederick Denison Maurice
*Communists
*Utopian socialists
*Liberation theologists
*Egalitarianists

When people say "socialists," they may not all be thinking the same thinking.

Yeah, it is pretty broad.
and it works out on paper, but I can't remember when in History Socialism ever actually worked for a country. Ah well - it wouldn't be America if we aren't allowed to believe whatever we want - no matter how suspect it might be.
