Thoughts and Stuff

Here are some things I've been thinking about and/or doing in no particular order:

Megan Mullaly - Although I'm not doing her, I have appreciated her new M&M commercial where she gets back to her musical theatre roots and she's not using her Karen Walker voice. I love W&G, but she deserves to not have to use that voice for the rest of her life, so I'm happy for her.

Debra Messing - Again, no doing. But I just saw a commercial for her new movie The Wedding Date, and her character looks to be nothing like Grace, so again, I'm happy for these women's careers.

Queer Eye for the Straight Girl - Just saw an episode of this on Bravo. While I'm certainly happy that now girls are getting the 5-star makeover, and get to feel glamorous, I think the title is lame, and they're just trying too hard. I mean it's really about turning these girls into WOMEN, but they have to call it girl, because that's catchy. And when the ONE lesbian on the show said "Sorry guys, but this is a job for a lesbian" and then she went and gave the girl some tips on her hair? All this really is is Trendy Eye for the Uninformed Person. Are they eventually going to have Queer Eye for the Queer Guy? Or Queer Eye for the Man-Hating Bull-Dyke? Where's the friggin' line, America? By all means, let's keep spending thousands upon thousands of big business dollars on people in need (especially on my favorite story Extreme Home Makeover), but let's not be ridiculous about it. I mean come on..... a job for a lesbian? If I was any of the three gay men in that room, I would have kicked that bitches ass.

CVS - For the 5th time in my long career with CVS I have officially given my notice that I am leaving. That's counting the time last April when I gave my notice and ended up working for another 8 months. I am supposed to be done by Saturday February 5th, but given my ability that really only leaves like 6 or 7 shifts.

Gym - I went to the gym by myself today! Although I was sad not to go with Jeff, because we need to support each other in our good habits, it just wouldn't have worked out with our schedules today, so I'm glad I didn't opt to just not go. And I don't even hurt!

Iron Chef America - I'm watching this now. I'm guessing purists would say it's not as good as the original. It's certainly not as ridiculous without the bad over-dubbing and the ridiculous little girl who always laughs like something out of a Final Fantasy game. But I think it's a good idea.

Here's to looking forward to excess checks and tax refunds next month!
