And so we continue on to game 6. Another long night tomorrow. $50 says it goes to the 16th this time. And it's a 1-1 game. And it takes 7 and a half hours to play. And the game 7 starters will have to start warming up because it'll be close to starting time for that.
Anywho, I've had a pretty good trumpet day. I played for an hour in sectional at 11:00, and then I went back and played for an hour at 3:00, and then I went back during the 13th and 14th innings tonight for a third hour, and it was still quality lead trumpet practicing. I've also been playing some bass trombone notes during chop breaks, and it's been working really well as a quick rejuvenation of the lips. And it's also really helping my air support.
So let's talk about CVS. I went in to work on Sunday at 1pm, once again not having checked the schedule to know if I was working, but I had a good feeling. As it turns out, I was right; I was working 1-9. And then I saw that I was scheduled to work 4-10pm tonight. Now I've been very clear with Tim that my availability is only Sundays right now. And in fact I was going to have to write a note saying that I can't work this coming Sunday (MICCA) or two weeks from that (BOA), but I would try and find some alternate hours if he needed. But the fact of the matter is, I have class on MWF at 11:15, Marching Band every day at 4:40, and so much jazz on Tu/Th that there's no way at all on those days. So I left him a note saying as much, and that if he really needed me I could come in either 12:30-4:30, or after class from 6:30-10:00pm.
All day went by, and my phone never rang, so I assumed he didn't need me. And then at 6:50pm my phone rang and I found out that Tim had assumed I'd just come in at 6:30 anyway. You also need to realize that today was truck day at CVS, and there were nine people scheduled for the night, and I was one of three supervisors. So my function was not going to be anything more important than an extra set of hands stocking shelves for three and a half hours. Not that that isn't valuable help, because someone else is going to have to put in that time tomorrow at work, but I'm really not willing to come in on a day I'm not supposed to be scheduled for unless it's some scheduling emergency, and there's noone available to close the store. I guess that sounds snobbish, but what other reason is there to schedule someone when they're not available other than an emergency situation?
So we'll see what happens tomorrow when Tim gets to work and sees that I didn't come in. And on top of that, I'm not planning on coming to work until the 31st. Woohoo! We all know I want to quit but seem to be incapable of doing so, so maybe getting fired will solve that problem for me!
