Okay, tomorrow I have my first substituting gig, at an area high school. I have no idea what grade or what subject, just to be there at 7:30 a.m. And hey, it's $75 for the day--that's a third of my car payment, so yeah! I have three more days lined up for next week, which I'm happy about, but I have to make sure that it doesn't distract me from dissertation work. (It won't, I swear)
Yet again I watched Jericho last night, and each week, I wonder if I'm even going to bother the next week. I still love the concept, but it is so predictable and corny. When Major Dad--I'm sorry, Gerald McRaney--went into cardiac arrest, I thought, "This will toughen the show up--with the mayor dead, there will be a power struggle!" And then he started breathing again. Sigh. Maybe I should read the new Cormac McCarthy novel instead--it's supposed to be post-apocalyptic and is getting great reviews.
