Have very good news - through the club I have managed to get a charity secured place in the London marathon, running for Asthma UK so I will be calling on people for sponsorship in the coming months. I had been rather sceptical about doing this, mainly because of it cutting into triathlon training, and the effect that heavy mileage could have on my previously unreliable knees. However, if I am going to do Ironman in the future I will have to get used to the distance so I thought it better not to pass up the opportunity. There are twelve weeks or 3 months until the race - during that time I have two 10km cross-country races, a half-marathon and a 20-miler. I suspect I will start to up the distances I am running (currently 20-25 miles a week) in about a month; my aim is to do sub-3:40hrs which I think is easily achieveable.
Aside from that things are continuing well. I had a good run at Ampleforth last weekend, coming 3rd for the old boys and 10th overall. I ran strongly but the course was rather short (4.7miles) for my liking. I have been increasing my swimming training a bit, but unfortunately managed to pull a muscle at Wednesday's running training and so had to stop after about 25 mins. I'll make up for this tomorrow with a nice 15 mile run, then will probably do the Windsor 80km ride on Sunday with the club.
Other than my various sporting activities things are pretty intense on the work front, with a moot this week (I won) and next (on Human Rights - Oh God!), essay to be handed in pretty much now and new subject lecture in just under an hour. Better go..
