Do any of you watch Fox & Friends in the morning? Probably not, unless you're doing it for the lulz. Which is part of the reason I've started watching it when my schedule gets goofy and I'm up in the morning, the rest of the reason being that apparently I'm a masochist. Really the show should be called Sarah Palin Dance Party. Yesterday they did a "pop quiz" and told you to guess the vice presidential nominee. The clues were things like, "A Republican nominee, a Republican reformer, loves the outdoors, loves to hunt, has two-years' experience as a govenor..." And the one host who looks like a vampire from Buffy the Vampire Slayer was faking like he was thinking real hard, and then the awfully dim woman in the middle said there was one more thing: it's not a woman -- it's Theodore Roosevelt (omg!). And then they put up a picture of Sarah Palin next to a photo of Teddy Roosevelt and said "No one would say Teddy Roosevelt didn't have enough experience!" So see, guys? SARAH PALIN LIKES TO SHOOT ANIMALS AND TEDDY ROOSEVELT LIKED TO SHOOT ANIMALS, THEREFORE SARAH PALIN IS QUALIFIED TO BE SECOND IN COMMAND OF THE MOST POWERFUL NATION IN THE WORLD. Nevermind that Roosevelt was a progressive ("He was the first U.S. president to call for universal health care and national health insurance" -- wikipedia ftw!), and that some people weren't crazy about ol' Teddy getting into that position; when McKinley was assinated, I think it was McKinley's political manager Mark Hanna who said of Roosevelt, "now that damn cowboy's going to be President."
Let's see, what else... Just now Fox had a headline up about the "attacks" on Palin, asking of it's because Democrats "hate or fear" her. Last week they showed a clip of Matt Damon doing an interview in Toronto where he said Palin's nomination is like a bad Disney movie, like some Alaskan hockey mom is going to accidentally become President and then face down Russia with all her folksy knowledge and hockey tricks (which omg is one of the best takes on Palin I've heard) and then after the clip -- which they headlined "The Bourne Insanity" -- the dim blonde in the middle said that Damon "just insulted 52% of the population. It's called 'women'." LMAOOO Fox & Friends, don't ever change <333.
I've heard about their bias and have seen snippets of it, but I had no idea it was this relentless. I'm amazed and a little scared that they can rationalize to themselves that their work is "fair and balanced."
P.S. The other night I made this icon really quick if anyone wants to use it, taken from something
