This was a letter I wrote some time in 1997, then posted to USENET on May 24 1998. Why don’t I still write stuff like this? Makes me nostalgic for my old self. Note: try to withhold judgment until you get to the end. I like your story, but I think I like the European view (or what I know of it) better than the Peruvian perspective. I don't think it's that we don't have outlets that causes the problem so much as we have a need for "outlets" to begin with. If our culture weren't so prudish and sex were viewed the same way as hand holding or hugging, I think a lot of women would more freely pursue it. I think a lot of the problem goes right back to our culture's poor view of women's sexuality and harsh take on the functional "slut ( ... )

I would have been tickled pink to pay that woman for sex if she’d approached me differently. But I could just imagine how it would go with somebody like that: she’d no doubt be in a big hurry, she wouldn’t want to talk first, all she’d be thinking about was getting it over with and getting the hell away from me. That’s not what I’m after at ALL.

This is the difference between streetwalkers and escorts (depending). Streetwalkers are generally more desperate, less intelligent and less willing to view the transaction as anything beyond insertion. Obviously there are exceptions, but on the whole the GFE with an escort is more what you're talking about.
