Honeymoon.... cont.
Ok, sorry for the abrupt disruption. I thought I had more time to let everyone in on what has taken place. But, as I said before, we have moved! We moved into that little town home community, and it could not be any better! I mean, we even have a pond filled with ducks, geese...and SWANS! It's awesome. And they encourage you to go down to the pond and feed them, which Michele and I try to do on a regular basis. Plus, on top of that, we have a community! We can walk around! I can by my big fat ass a bike, and bike around! That would be great!!
Best news of this, is that the house, 1891, SOLD! The first buyer who was interested, bought the house. He is a builder, and has the money and resources to do what needs to be done to the house. He was told about all the problems, and was ok with everything. He bought the house and is currently renting it out.... for $2,000 a month!!!!!! Crazy.
Anyhow... so let me fill ya'll in on our honeymoon happenings.
As you are all aware, we won the Dunkin Donuts wedding contest. Part of the winnings, was a free honeymoon in the Bahamas which we would have a year to take. We decided, after the wedding, to go up to Lake George, NY for a honeymoon and take the Bahamas trip sometime later in the year as sort of a ... one year annversary or something like that. Well, Lake George didn't happen very well because we both got very sick up there and had to come home. So... we didn't consider that our honeymoon.
Now over the past 8 months, we have been planning this vacation, and decided that this WOULD be considered our honeymoon. 8 months later!
So, the deal was this.... my parents have a timeshare in Disney for the 1st Sunday-Sunday in November. So, we decided to take the weeks trip in the Bahamas the week before the timeshare, and then use the timeshare. 1 week in the Bahamas and 1 week in Disney.
Nope.
My father banked the timeshare trip (which I totaly cannot blame him), so we couldn't use that. We still wanted to go to Disney for a bit, but now that we had to pay for it we couldn't afford to stay there for a week. So we decided upon 5 days, 4 nights at one of the other timeshare properties. Since neither of us fly, we figured we would drive down. DD also paid for our transportation to the Bahamas, so we are now taking a mini-ferry-cruise-thing from Ft. Lauderdale over to Grand Bahama Island. So that was cool.
So, this was the plan.
We would leave on 10/19 and drive to Va. Spend the night there, then drive to Ga. Spend the night in Savannah, then drive to Ft. Lauderdale. We would then spend the night there, which would bring us to Sat. morning (yesterday) and then be ferried over. Spend the week there, go back to Ft. Lauderdale and spend the night. Drive to Orlando and spend the 5 days there. Drive back to Ga. and then drive back to Va.
Well...no thanks to Wilma... everything got pushed back. So we wound up spending two days in Savannah, waiting for this storm to push it's way through, but then thinking it would head up the coast, we moved further West in Ga. and wound up in Atlanta....and stayed where Jim and I used to live! Awesome!!!! So, we will now spend 3 nights here, THEN drive further south and stay in Northern Fl. and then drive, through that night, into Ft. Lauderdale in order to make the cruise.
So, we planned our honeymoon during the RECORD BREAKING HURRICANE SEASON on record! Not only that... during the MOST INTENSE AND POWERFULL HURRICANE SINCE 1800's!!!!!!!!!
WTF with our luck?
Now, to top things off...... there is now Tropical Storm Alpha.
WE RAN OUT OF NAMES!
Are we not supposed to take this trip?
Did the other DD finalists cast a curse on us??!
But all is well, we are having a great time trying to get down there. Staying here in Atlanta we were able to meet up with Jim's brother Joe and his wife Sindy for dinner tonight. It was great seeing them again, since we missed the opportunity to see them when they came up North! So that was nice. Now.... well...time will tell where we will be, and when. It's so up in the air.
