ISHI

couldn't find the books I was looking for today.
but I did start reading "ISHI"
a book that claims to be:

'A biography of the last wild Indian in North America'

this man, after all his people were killed or had died, wandered around without hope of life and desperate lonliness. found by a butcher and then arrested to keep him safe, was handed over to some anthropoligists who studies him and learned from him about his ways and the ways of his people and there death with the settlement of California.

I got 60 pages into it today and though different then the types of studies i'm used to (the ones writing the books actually lived amongst the people for lengths of time) this book is put together from conversations with Ishi once he began to adapt to modern ways of life while calling mainly a museum his home.

sounds like an intersesting man to say the least.
