Jun was up to Tokyo last weekend, and we kicked it big time with Shouchu in Oimachi to celebrate his new job up in Hokkaido. Apart from lying around playing Soul Calibur III and Gundam, we watched Lethal Weapon 3 & 4, Bloodrayne and Ultraviolet. It was great to see proper action movies like Lethal Weapon again, but Bloodrayne is a boring abortion and Ultraviolet made me furious. I know you have to suspend disbelief for future dystopia type movies, but the faceless guards in this movie were so tactically inept I was almost weeping.
Here are a few tips for guards who intend to fight Milla Jolovich in the near future.
1. It is obvious from all of the corpses in the room that she is good at hand to hand combat. Don't waste your time taking her on this way.
2. You do not need to run up right next to her to shoot her - stand back, use cover and remember you have a rifle. Invest in grenades.
3. Learn to flank.
4. Don't surround your target in a circle, time and time again. You will only end up shooting yourselves. Again and again.
5. Ask your boss to spring for a sniper rifle or maybe some gimmicky death trap rooms, y'know like walls closing in or something like that.
On an unrelated note, I cannot stop listening to Tom Waits' "Heart of Saturday Night" this week. I makes me want to sit in a fancy bar on a on the top floor of a tall Tokyo building and drink bourbon.
