Live From New York

Greetings to all from NYC.

Had a great shabbos with my brother Will in Washington Heights where I got to meet a lot of his friends (including a jewish flower child named Destiny. Fun name huh?). Then came the most boring program on planet Earth: Freshman Orientation. If I did everything else online, why do I have to register for classes in NY? In the middle of July? I can't believe I'm missing baseball's all-star game for this junk. To give an example of how bad this is let me tell you some of the program names: Today I had a "diversity workshop" followed by what was called "NYU state of mind" which involved us splitting into groups and being asked questions which we had to move to one side or the other of the room depending on if we agreed or not with it. Combined time: Approx 3 hours. 3 HOURS FOR THAT JUNK?!?!?!?!?! I feel like hurting someone. Tonight I have to go to a dinner meeting (read: Useless waste of time) then I'm required to go to a talent show. Required!!!! And I still have another day of crap like this. :-(

Being with the goyim for the first time in my life is definatley (yes Daniel, I know it's spelled wrong) weird but fun though. I have someone in my orientation group: 3 Catholics (2 who don't practice), 2 agnostics, 3 other Jews, and a Bahai (last one is kinda cool). The leaders are another agnostic and a unitarian (talk about diversity). I suppose the leaders are only doing their job, but after the dozenth game to know everyone else in the group, you'd think they'd stop torturing some of us!!!!

Oh well.

On the bright side, the White Sox finished the first half of the season with a 9 game lead over the Minnesota Twins and have 4 all-stars (including the starting pitcher in the game!)

Come to think of it, I think that's the only good thing that's going on here. I'm so !@#!$%@# annoyed.
