I was complaining the other day about people with generic messages on their answering machines. Well, today I got one that was anything _but_ generic.

I'm making calls to people, letting them know that their taxes are all prepared and all we need are signatures and dates on e-file authorization forms. Most folks prefer to have the forms faxed to them, so I default to calling work numbers. One of our clients won't be in his office until later this afternoon, so I ask to be transferred to his voice mail. Apparently they sent me to his cell phone, and his message (where most people say, "Hey, I'm not here right now, leave a message...") goes like this: "Hi baby, my cell phone died so if you get this, call Chris at (Chris' phone number). I'm drunk and fucked-up so I'm going to be here for a while if I don't... if I can't get a cab. Yeah, Chris just said he'd pay for my cab. I love you."

WTF? I can understand leaving a message like that on your phone for your wife, if you don't get many other people calling you, but that's where they sent me when I asked for him at work! Anyone trying to call him for professional reaons or otherwise will hear that message. Yikes.
