Good news from Afghanistan
Early in September, I learned that one of my friends from high school was in Afghanistan... I got his address from his sister and wrote him, and I just got a response today! He is fine; has seen some action but is unharmed. They have him "...involved in the security of the primary election zones in the Logar province. That's about as specific as I'm allowed to get." And he says that, "by the time you get this letter I'll be processing to come back to the States." Woot! It will only be for leave - he has another three years of service - but at least he'll be home and be safe for however long. It's scary business when you actually have a name to watch for on those lists they run on the news.....
