Hindsight is 20/20
“So you think you could have done things differently?” Huang asked of Munch. They had just finished a grueling case and everyone was exhausted. Given that the case had not ended particularly well, the team was also a bit on the depressed side.
“Hindsight, doc. Or is that what you’re about to remind me?” Munch commented snidely.
Huang had long ago become accustomed to Munch’s mannerisms so he wasn’t the least bit perturbed. “It seems like I didn’t need to do any reminding. That was your thought, independent of my question.”
Munch shot an annoyed look in Huang’s direction, then sighed. “Days like today make me question why I do this.”
“So why do you?” Huang asked.
Another annoyed glare.
“You brought it up. You could have settled for a small pension or a position in a department anywhere else. You didn’t have to come to this department in this city.”
“I do what I do, because someone has to and it might as well be me.”
