Back To Normality

Wait, does such a state exist? Ah, I didn't really think so. Well then perhaps my quirky life is ok.

Rain rain, go away! I know, it's a familiar refrain. But today, as on Tuesday, we got rivers flowing through here. I did manage to get in an hour of outdoor time, during which no one spoke to me. They're calling for a similar day tomorrow. It's so cool tonight that I've actually shut the AC down. I think it's October, rather than July as the calendar claims.

didn't in fact talk to anyone at all today. I could've gone the entirety without using my voice, but we all know I've got to talk, yell at, and otherwise entertain myself on ocasion. I would go somewhere, but I'm still stuck in a state of flat broke. Ugh. Let this end! Guess I will go to church tomorrow, so that I can at least be around a critical mass for a while.

My finicky reading continues. The DeMille book I'd tried just didn't grab me, both because it was kinda boring, and because the recording had been taken from a cassette that sounded as if the tape had worn quite thin. It just took too much concentration for me to get anything out of it.

So, I'm now reading American Gods, by Neil Gaiman. I'm enjoying it thus far, and as in Neverwhere, he quickly asks that you suspend your beliefs on what is possible. The story got off to a fast start, too. I'll probably give a more formal review if and when I complete it.

The audio version is 18 hours long, and the only thing about the narrator that I find a bit difficult is that he sometimes runs sentences together. I think he's doing this on purpose, as it is part of the story's flow, but it does cause me to miss things. The audio narrator's voice is really! deep too; it could probably rival this guy's. I remember as a child thinking that I would have a heavy bass voice once I grew up. I also saw myself being 6-4, 230. Like any of that happened.

Anyway, I suppose I'll sit here and listen to music for a little longer. Then it's off to NPR, and back to the book. I hope you had a good Saturday. Did you do anything fun? I had leftover shrimp and pasta that I'd made yesterday. This wasn't a challenge to do really, but I'm still happy with myself for expanding my cooking repertoire. More variety is always good! Till tomorrow.
