Catch-up and NCAA Sunday

Mar 14, 2010 22:32

I haven't written in here in a bit, mainly because my life has been, well, boring. I did make it down to Charlotte on Monday morning. Had a decent time, what with the very warm weather and especially the intense sun and near 70 degrees on Tuesday.

My beautifully dysfunctional family is still in tact. After the craziness of the beginning of the New Year, I was a little surprised to see that my sighted cousin and his girlfriend were still seeing each other. I guess that's just how things go around those parts though, a very odd way of showing love perhaps. I think it's just the stress of dealing with this crazy life, which I can definitely understand.

So now I'm back for the second half of the semester, struggling hard to find motivation and finish strong. I'm scared of this major paper I have due on the 31st of March and the powerpoint presentation I've already mentioned. I feel tired, but I will find the strength somehow.

And now onto the fun! I've engaged in the relatively hopeless attempt at guessing how this year's NCAA tournament would unfold. Only I didn't get to play for the million dollars on Yahoo sports, because their tournament pick 'em is inaccessible this time. I'm disappointed by this, as Yahoo has so often been a leader in making sports information usable for persons with screen-readers. I saw on a video that they have an individual who's job it is specifically to keep things usable, working in some sort of lab. At any rate, I just pasted the teams into my journal and went on my random picking spree. Hard to pick against the University of Kentucky, which makes me sad. Also watch Maryland! Not entirely sure if Duke will lose to Louisville, but A I'd like it to happen, and B if it doesn't I won't mind taking that hit. I can't stand them! If I get this cut text to work, my picks should be found here:

The UNC Tar Heels are going to NIT, which is bittersweet. Given the lackluster way they've played this season, as another fan put it on Twitter it's "Just a ratings thing, I suspect. Ouch. Now we've got to go through another game." Yeah it's definitely been that kind of season. Oh, but how bout them Charlotte Bobcats! They've won 6 straight, including a really surprising win over the Orlando Magic in Orlando's building. They're 34-31 and look like they might make it into the playoffs. Still a few games left, though.

Ok, let me finish reading this chapter and grab something to eat before it's too late. More sports shall wait till tomorrow.
