I think I've been gone from my apartment every weekend for the past three. It's exhausting! Details under a cut.

Two weeks ago, I went home to visit Mom and to meet my sister's new boyfriend. No, she's still not divorced yet, but the papers have been filed. So there's that. She seems much more at ease with her newest boyfriend, and he seems like much less of an asshole, so there's hope that this one might work out. :) Otherwise, not much else happened that weekend, aside from a weird snow/rain/sleet/wintry mix weather event that caused my drive back to Madison to be less than pleasant.

Then last weekend I had a work trip to Indianapolis to a hospital that is going live with our software. I was pleasantly surprised that none of the end users seemed terribly irritable by the changeover to a new system. Well, at least none of the end users I worked with. There were some doctors that were less than thrilled, but I didn't have to deal with them as much, because I'm don't work on the clinical applications. I was expecting it to be much worse, but the trip exceeded my expectations. There is something to be said about keeping your expectations low.

I am *very* glad, though, that I wasn't flying out to Indy on Sunday. Apparently the flight into Indy Sunday night was diverted to Columbus due to the horrible weather that was passing through Indy. I heard that it was incredibly bumpy, people were white-knuckling armrests, one person threw up, and people were just fearful for their lives. I would have needed some sort of drug to get me through something like that.

This weekend was definitely the most fun of the three. It was my first ever Winchest Midwest! For those not in the know, that's a SPN mini-con run by the fabulous ant3ka , the wonderful gonturan , and the super Tara (who I don't have friended on LJ yet). I had heard much about it for the last couple of years since I started doing coffee with these fabulous ladies, but hadn't had a chance to go due to either work kicking my ass or being in a play. But this year, since work isn't quite horrendous yet and I'm not currently in a play because I'm still taking a break from theater, I was able to go! And it was as much fun as everyone (queeberquabbler and alcorandmizar mainly) have told me it was.

Given that I am not as OMG!obsessed with the show, I still felt like I fit in pretty well at the con. There was no real uber-fannish things going on. Mainly it's just a group of people getting together to talk about a show they like. It's really my kind of thing. And everyone brought different things to the table that I was able to learn from. My very favorite part, though, was reading a script and seeing how it translated to the screen. Mainly I liked it because I got to read Dean's part. But also because it reminded me how much I like to act and how I'm starting to feel the theater itch again. Also, Dean's portion in the script was pretty damn big, so that part was fun, too.

Overall it was just a really good time with a really great group of people. I don't know what I was so nervous about before going, because I felt welcomed with open arms. Plus, they didn't make me feel weird about being the only boy there.

One word to the wise, though. Don't watch Stonehenge Apocalypse unless you're drunk or high. It's the only way to make that movie palatable. Or watch it with a group of friends that are willing to mock it mercilessly. And yell for the two men having a rather homoerotic fight to kiss each other.

And on that note, I need to head to bed soon. I have to reenter the real world tomorrow. *cries*
