Light

I've been in the studio a lot lately, and I've been thinking about light... reflections... the use of lights in pieces... the play of light in paintings... the way a piece changes depending on the way light hits it... how I can incorporate light into some pieces...

I've searched, and come across some spectacularly talented people who have inspired me to venture out and expand what I try to achieve in my art...

My interest in looking at light started when I was in Boston, and came across a store called Craft Village, where the artisans practice HANJI, a traditional Korean handmade paper craft... the store is amazing and magical... here is a sample of one of their lamps...

I visited that store window often. With all of these, you can just click to visit their websites... and please visit their sites...  I'm certainly not trying to take any credit for their work... all of the images here belong to other artists... :)

I was reminded of this Korean papoer craft when I first saw Mikel Robinson's work... Mikel does great portrait work...

I realize that I also enjoy work with an ethereal quality... work with a misty quality... something that looks like a represenation of a memory...

I found Christopher Lovenguth, a photographer right here in NYC... His work really moves me...

and that same stunning quality that captivates me so is also found in this amazing phootgraphic work...

I'm hoping, in the future, to incorporate light in small ways into my pieces... for now, I'm sitting with thoughts and ideas and getting in touch with what speaks to me... but I'm leaving breadcrumbs now, so that I can produce something akin to what I see as beautiful and meaningful.
