According to the people with drums that we watched in the International Pavilion at the Ex, this means "Greetings, we bring to you." The appropriate response is "Ashea, Ashea" which translates to "Ashea, Ashea" I guess, because they never told us different. So that's thing one since the last update, Amy and I, and Steph and Jeff (and for a period in there, Steph and Jeff's friend Michael) went to the Ex. It was good stuff. I can now honestly say that I have watched a goat being milked first-hand, instead of just in those grown up magazines. Also present at the Ex were the Eukanuba(TM) PETsMART(TM) Ford(TM) SuperDogs(TM) which were most excellent, particularly the black and golden labs, but particularly the bulldog named 'Pot Roast'. Dinner was a schnitzel related product on a bun, followed by obligatory maple beavertail, but the real find was a booth in the "Cheap Shit for Sale" pavilion, which was selling 400 different kinds of hot sauce with names like "Kiss your ass goodbye" and "Farting razorblades batch 12" and also Maple Syrup. Tucked carefully away amongst this natural pairing was one bottle of Blueberry extract, or Blueberry sauce, or maybe just blue ink. I don't know because I haven't tasted it yet and it has no label, but I am partial to things blueberry and besides, the bottle was shaped like a cello. So now I have to make pancakes.

Apparently the new slang way to say "This is something of which I approve" is... listen up parents who think the nation's children are illiterate hooligans: book. I swear, I have it on good authority from my skater dude connection at work that all the kids are busting out this mad new lingo like nobody's business. "Check it, that mofo's flossing his ice again. He may be a wack dirty, but that bling is totally book," is apparently the type of thing one might hear these days. Inspiring.

Speaking of books, I recently read Eat the Rich because a smart girl that I like, and in fact, several smart girls that I like, seemed to think it was a good book to read. It turns out that, as always, smart girls that I like are right about everything, and it was a good book to read. It's funny though, because I had just finished reading "Guns, Germs and Steel." These are not books I would have naturally grouped together, but it's interesting that they are basically about the question "Why do some places just seem to suck?" I think GGS has a better answer, but EtR has more swears, so I'm going to have to recommend both. My other book on the go right now is the "History of the World" and I’m almost up to Stalin, which I guess is a good thing in a way. I’m also almost up to Gandhi though, so that should balance out nicely.

There is a deep and mournful yearning in my soul that I fear only a laptop can fill. I want a laptop. The laptop I really want is this one but really only because it’s pretty to look at and also because it’s a laptop, which is something that I want.

That’s about as insightful as I’m gonna get today.
