Today a hornbill came and perched on the ledge outside my window. It was a marvelous bird, greater than the common flock we find here in Singapore, magnificently coloured, its great beak and crest curved like the horns that give it its name. Such a fine creature is not meant for such a city as this. I brought out my camera to capture it, but as I approached, the bird sensed me and took off, leaving me without a picture.
I am writing this here, so that I do not forget this. It was a beautiful bird.
