“CHASE!”
He jumps, dropping his notebook, startled by the sound of his roommate Logan yelling his name. “Ahh jeez man! Do you want me to have a heart attack?” he asks.
“Well, if you would have responded the other five times I said your name, I wouldn’t have had to yell!” Logan, who had been standing in the doorway, walks into the room and closes the door behind him.
“Yeah yeah, sorry man. Lost in thought,” he says, and he goes to pick up his notebook. But Logan runs forward and grabs it before Chase can get to it.
“Ooh, what’s this, your diary?” Logan taunts, waving the notebook in front of his face.
“No! Give it back, Logan!” Chase says, trying to grab it.
But Logan pulls it away just in time. “Let’s see what it says.” He looks down at the page. “Ways to ask Zoey to the prom,” he reads out loud, grinning like an idiot. “So Chase, you want to ask-”
But before he can finish his sentence, Chase launches himself at Logan and the two fall to the floor. They struggle briefly, Logan trying with all his might to hold on to the notebook. But when Chase grabs Logan’s hair, it’s all over.
“Not the hair, not the hair!” Logan yells. “Here, take it, take it back!” He shoves the notebook into Chase’s chest and pushes him off. Chase leans back against the couch, clutching his notebook, while Logan jumps up and runs to his mirror.
“Oh get over yourself man, your hair looks fine,” Chase says. Under normal circumstances, he’d be laughing, but he’s too angry at his roommate to laugh right now.
But Logan is freaking out. “Are you kidding?! Do you know how long it took me to do my hair this morning? Guess!”
Chase rolls his eyes. “Oh I don’t know, ten minutes maybe?”
“Ten minutes! Hah! Try an hour!” Logan turns back to his mirror and runs his fingers through his hair. “This is a disaster. And I have a date with Brenda in two hours!”
“Who’s Brenda?” Chase asks, forgetting his anger for a moment.
“New girl. Real cute. I can’t go on a date with her with my hair looking like this!” He walks over to his desk, grabs a bunch of hair supplies, and heads to the door. “I’ve gotta go fix this mess you made of my hair. Have fun with your list.” He grins wickedly at Chase before closing the door behind him.
Chase leans his head back against the couch and closes his eyes. He loves Logan like a brother, but sometimes he really wants to kill him.
Suddenly, the door flies open and Logan is back in the room. “I forgot to tell you,” he says. “Zoey’s looking for you. Last I saw, she was by the fountain. You should go find her. Maybe she wants to ask you to the prom.” He gives Chase another one of his evil grins before leaving again.
Chase groans and hits himself in the head with his notebook. This is going to be one interesting day.
