The South Yorkshire Star has a clip of Hamlet from the scene where he's plotting to stab Claudius during his prayers. The audio quality isn't great, but it's a nice clip. Sod the reviewers, I'm really liking his clean and pure diction.
That was lovely. I don't understand what the reviewers' complaint was, either. Thanks for sharing! I wish the site had an option for downloading it. :3
I think it does, but you might have to be a subscriber to access it. I was scouring the page source info trying to find a way to download it, and there was code for a "download video" button which wasn't visible on the actual page.
*gives the site a jolly good kick for itself for being stingy*
I saw the play on Tuesday and can confirm he was excellent. Everyone was, especially Hugh Ross (the gravedigger scene was amazing).
Simm's voice was a little higher than I thought it would be but it worked very well for Hamlet and didn't sound off at all. All the soliloquies felt fresh, and that's hard to do with such a well-known, over-quoted piece of work.
Sometimes he *did* sound a little like Sam Tyler, with his careful enunciation at key points in his rants, but that just made me smile. <3<3
And there was quite a bit of Master in there too :D
