John interview from the Xmas Sunday Telegraph supplement, 20 Dec

Dec 20, 2009 19:41

kalypso_v is a star and sent me some scans of today's John interview in the Telegraph. I've cleaned the scans up slightly, but the paper quality didn't allow for the best of results. However, the interview is good (I'm not sure if it's particularily spoilery for The End of Time, but watch out just in case). Share and enjoy!

Poor thing, it's his crazy Van Gogh haircut. It always makes him look a bit ill.

And I bet they Photoshopped that Dalek in. *g*

Ahaha, aww. I kept imagining him just whipping out a needle and popping it. Easiest Time Lord vs. Dalek victory ever:D.

Thanks for sharing. I've always appreciated his honesty when it comes to dealing with fans. I think if I ever saw him on the train or in the street I would be entirely too shy to do anything about it. So really I am amazed at some fans guts.

No problem. And yeah, I wouldn't dare to bother actors myself unless they were doing signings or something, just because I can imagine how distressing it must be to be mobbed by fans. Especially to someone who's as sensitive to that kind of thing as John. No wonder he can get grumpy and hermity at times.

Hiya,

Me too !! So this chap was cross because JS didn’t want to shake his hand/chat to him ??!! ‘Stan’ [song] comes to mind. There really must be something wrong with these people. Not surprised JS reacted the way he did.

I had to smile at the bit about David Tennant being so much better at handling fan interaction, because Tennant's just admitted it's not always very pleasant for him, either. This makes me feel massively better about my own shyness around strangers, so thank you muchly, boys.

Yeah. I was reading that earlier and was comparing them in his mind. Tennant does a much better job at being more sociable in general, which is always astonishing for someone so classically geeky. And John probably wouldn't be able to give those amazing, emotionally raw performances of his if he wasn't pretty sensitive (and thus easily hurt), so no wonder he stays on his guard.

Thanks for posting those! I do actually have the magazine but it's always nice to have a back up copy that doesn't deteriorate with time... loved the description of him as 'small and wiry' - having stood right next to him for an autograph and photo I can confirm that! Yum!
