So, although I was too sick to go to the library I still have something to post on. See last week during the lecture when we were watching that video on the new Shakespeare portrait I got to thinking.
What if it was a fake? Now I don't doubt the validity of the real painting but I thought about writing a play where a portrait of Shakespeare is found but is thought to be a fake. Basically that would be the punchline of the play. The idea runs that I could use a bunch of Shakespeare misquotes as jokes. Things like having the curator of the art museum where the play is set (naturally) being called Julie and being in the local paper for the discovery of the new portrait. Then I could use lines like
"Where's the curator?"
"She's in the east wing, Julie is in the Sun." You know, really bad puns that play off Shakespeare quotes.
or have someone enter crying
"HAVOC, HAVOC, has anyone seen Havoc? I bet he's let slip the dogs again."
or
"Shall we play cards again? What do you say. Once more unto the bridge dear friends, once more!"
I just thought it'd be funny... for maybe ten minutes. I'd have to do a lot more Shakespeare reading. So maybe I shouldn't write a full play script but it was just a bit of a different idea.
Anywho, that'll do for now.
Thanks for reading!
This weeks commment is on Jesse's Live journal.
