#166 - Do you believe in ghosts?

Feb 18, 2007 11:07

Just for the record, I’m not one of those people who believes in that whole “ghosts from the past” thing that so many seem to wallow in. You know, where they attach some sort of bad/sad (or maybe good) feeling to a person, memory, or object. That’s f’ed up. They are just people, memories, or objects.

I’m not going to get all weepy-eyed because I hear some lyrics of some song related to some person that meant something to me years ago. Nor is the smell of fresh chocolate chip cookies going to make me wish I was a kid again, baking with my mom. Nor am I going to get afraid or anxious (or happy) just because I might see someone in a crowd that might-or-might-not resemble some person I used to know.

That’s all just a bunch of BS. For some people, being like that just cripples them and they can barely function through the day. I won’t live like that, so I don’t think about it at all. I have to focus on the now, not the then.

Putting those kinds of ghosts aside, do I believe in the supernatural/superstitious ones? Like, the whole “spirits who didn’t move onto the afterlife so they’re going to get pissy and mess with you by moving vases over a couple of inches on your coffee table or maybe make a piano fall on your head” kind?

No.
