We get maybe 1-2 days of snow a year, and didn't get any last year. It's snowing now. Nothing like the Northeast (I could make a snarky comment here, but I won't), but snowing nonetheless. Whee!
Mary went out earlier and bought all kinds of crap, like pizza rolls, chili ingredients, cookies, hot chocolate, things like that. So we're all set to sit inside and wait it out. Which is what we do in the South when it snows. I don't have to drive to work (thanks to a very good Internet connection), so I don't care what it's like outside, no matter how bad it gets.
I've spent the day standing around with the proverbial fire hose in hand, ready and waiting for trouble while they've been conducting stress tests on two client machines. When the test is over at 7 PM, I'm going to zip up the logs and send them on to one and all. It's been somewhat like watching paint dry. I've had plenty to keep me busy, including fixing a problem that ended up amounting to someone not reading the f***ing doc and learning how the f***ing thing works before calling me and telling me "it doesn't work. Fix it!", and installing an application on a server that insists on being restarted before I can do anything.
I also managed to get MySQL working, and I'm getting ready to install PHP and get that working as well. I already have Apache Web Server working. Understand, I don't need these things for work yet, but as a friend of mine once said, I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. One can never tell when knowing this stuff might come in handy.
Mmm...Mary's cooking chili downstairs.
