The practice of purchasing and installing power bars or extension cords throughout the University is actively discouraged for safety reasons as follows:
- the likelihood of circuit overloading
- the possibility of building electrical service overloading
- using power bars and extension cords is unsuitable for a particular application
- octopi
- in many cases power bars and extension cords are used for applications for which additional outlets would be more appropriate.
Octopi?!
Well, I guess they would be a safety hazard...
(Yeah, yeah, I'm sure it's a technical term used in wiring or something. It's funny anyway.)
