Feeling sorry for herself and not really in the mood for anything, Elizabeth paced her room. She had changed out of her restricting uniform into a soft pair of old jeans with a hole in one ankle and a long-sleeved white shirt.

She twisted the sleeves in her fingers as she paced, not really knowing what to do with herself and all the while not really feeling like doing anything.

She hated herself for hating the fact that John was off doting on a woman that he refused to even tell her the name of… and that in itself hurt.

His apparent distrust of her hurt deeper than she thought possible.

She was just on her fifth lap of her quarters when she heard a knock on her door.

Elizabeth brushed some lose curls out of her eyes and walked towards it calling out “Who is it?” as she went.

“It’s Ronan.” Came the answer and she wondered what on earth he was doing here.

She opened the door and he handed her an envelope.

She eyed him for a moment before taking it and opening it to see a black piece of cloth and a note that read.

“Put this on and take Ronan’s hand”

Elizabeth looked up at Ronan.

“What is this?” She asked and he shrugged.

“I dunno, I got a letter that told me to give you this, then to make sure that the blind-fold was on tight and then to lead you to the south passageway.” He explained.

And she just studied the black cloth.

“Who gave it to you?” she asked.

“Was slipped under my door.” He replied bluntly and she nodded.

“Ummm, OK then.” She said, before starting to raise the blind-fold to cover her eyes. She had to admit that she was curious. And she desperately hoped that this wasn’t one of Rodney’s jokes that never turned out to be funny.

Ronan took her hand once the blind-fold was in place, and she had to note to herself that he was far gentler with her than she had expected.

He lead her a fair way and she just followed his lead until he came to a stop. He said nothing and after a moment he let go of her hand.

She was nervous for a moment, about being out here alone. Until a warm hand took hers once more… and it wasn’t Ronan’s.

She was led down another hall in silence and she could feel a slight chill in the air as they went, until they rounded a corner and warmth radiated from up ahead.

It was another few moments before they came to a stop again and Elizabeth could feel her heart pounding up in her throat.

Shivers went down her spine as those ownerless hands moved up to gently remove the blind-fold.

As soon as the blind-fold was gone she planned to turn around and learn the face of the one who had spirited her away.

But as the cloth dropped to the ground, she was overcome by the beauty around her.

Massive windows surrounded the room and all she could see for miles was sheets of endless black studded with diamond stars.

The room was covered in candles and the warmth was coming from a makeshift fireplace.

The room was adorned in gorgeous artefacts and treasures from so many different worlds; so many amazing things sparkled and shimmered in the soft light.

And it was in that moment that she knew who was standing behind her.

“You tricked me.” She whispered, barely able to speak as the beauty of the room overwhelmed her.

“Yes, I did.” He answered before she turned around to be greeted by the smiling face of John Sheppard holding a simple, elegant and beautiful silver locket out in front of her
