5 weeks
Well here it is 5 weeks since I broke my ankle...how time flies when youre having fun. I'm quite mobile now..I only use the crutches if theres any distance involved.
Since the last entry There has been another car incident. This time I went down to the paper shop and my station waggon refused to co-operate in the starting department. With some advice from a friend who is a breakdown mechanic I was able to get it going, but if it stopped I would be in trouble again. We loaded the car up and drove straight back to Sydney. The next day I bought a new key for the car, my car has remote locking and anti theft device built into the key and an electronic code has to be transfered from the old to the new key....my old key had lost that code...hence the problems with starting the car. Luckily the locksmith was able to read that code off my spare key and the new key is fine....the car starts first time every time.
John had work in sydney for a day last week and I was able to do a few things as well. John went out on thursday night and I met some friends for drinks on friday, so the trip to sydney was worh the effort..
We are now back down the coast. I went to the local hospital yesterday with the hope of getting my ankle x-rayed to confirm the bones are knitting and Im on track to have the cast removed next week. I would have had to wait 3 hours in the emergency department and the triage nurse advised me to get a referal from a GP and I could then go straight to the X-ray dept. I have an appointmnet with a doctor here in the village tomorrow and i will go from there to the hospital. My ankle feels fine and if everything proves to be so, I will make an appointment with my Physiotherapist for next tuesday ...6 weeks to the day. I have a feeling that I will not be as mobile once the cast is off...it gives a lot of support and without it I think my ankle will be more painful,but I will be glad to not have it as a constant companion.
John is heading off overseas the following weekend for 3 weeks. He has work in Colombo ,Sri Lanka and Johanusburg, South Africa, with a break in Dubai and Capetown. I was in Capetown in 2000 and would have liked to return, but we both feel its a bit amitious so soon after having the cast removed.
