Mini rant about California winter

Okay, so there are a lot of things on my plate more important and serious than this, but sometimes it feels good to complain about things that aren't that heavy and don't matter very much. As a fellow Midwesterner, I solidarize with you absolutely and completely on this. But... I am apparently even MORE desirous of being tough than you, so I like cold, snowy winters and I ALSO find it hard to turn my heat on, and end up trundling around in sweaters and being a little resentful about the chilliness in my apartment. Also, Central-to-Northern Coast Californian winters are DAMP, and that is a different kind of chill. I had the damndest time explaining this to my family; they thought I had forgotten what real cold is. Of course, I had also done that. But the combination of the poor insulation and no central heating and fog and rain really got to me. Oh, and plus it never snows, so though it's still dark, there's no snow to lighten things up!

Ask me again how I feel about all this when it's still snowy and cold in March, however.
