As with a genuine folk ballad, scansion is an inexact science, and the number of verses is arbitrary. Count yourselves lucky that I didn't do one for each and every one of Rose's adventures.
Here's
a midi file with the tune, though I give you fair warning that it can be an earworm.
Rose Tyler was a shopgirl just like half a hundred more
She had a job in London at a big department store
Down in the basement she found Autons one day;
Then the Doctor set a bomb and blew the shop away.
But Rose came back the very next day,
Yes, Rose came back, we thought she was a goner,
But Rose came back; she just couldn't stay away.
Away, away, yea, yea, yea...
A businessman in Utah had a Dalek that he'd found
Locked it and Rose together in a chamber underground
His base is full of concrete and his minions all dead
He's wandering the streets now with a hole inside his head.
But Rose came back the very next day...
The Doctor sent Rose far away when Daleks came to call
To bomb the Earth and place the few survivors in their thrall.
Defending a space station in the only way they could
Jack and Lynda and the others were all shot down where they stood.
But Rose came back the very next day...
In Torchwood House in Scotland were a werewolf and some monks
Who had a plan to kill the Queen and cut her into chunks
But when the Queen was rescued she had but one thing to say
That the Doctor and the girl must go at once and far away.
But Rose came back the very next day...
The Cybermen and Daleks both were spoiling for a fight,
They called each other insults all the day and half the night.
Rose helped the Doctor save the world but got into a scrape;
She was dragged away by void stuff to a place with no escape.
But Rose came back the very next day...
Now Davros had a cunning plan to darken all the sky
So everyone in every single universe would die.
A temp from Chiswick foiled his plans and saved the world again;
She was dumped back in her bedroom with a newly emptied brain.
But Rose came back the very next day...
It's Winter and this Doctor's life is nearly at an end
He wanders in his TARDIS without family or friends;
And Rose he left at Bad Wolf Bay without the least concern
With a semi-human clone to stop her trying to return.
But she'll come back the very next day,
Yes, she'll come back, we thought she was a goner,
But she'll come back; she just never stays away!
Away, away, yea, yea, yea...
