I'm complaining again...

I opened the paper this morning and among the multiple stories about Obama's inauguration I saw a story with the word "gun" in the title. Naturally, I was drawn to it. Turns out Gary, Indiana is suing gun maufacturers and dealers for perpetuating the crime in their city. I'm sorry, but, pro-gun feelings aside, this is stupid. To me, it's as if Americans were suing pop and junk food companies (among others) for making fattening products, as well as the grocery stores, gas stations, schools, and others that "deal" these goods. I enjoy my Pepsi (and Coke when Pepsi's unavailable). I'd hate to have it taken away (or to have an insane tax put on it) because some obese person sits on a couch all day watching TV drinking 50 cans of pop and only eating Twinkies. I'm a responsible user of my pop and snacks, and maybe the overweight person should be the focus of what's wrong. To tie this into the gun thing, there are countless responsible users of guns out there and the focus on controlling guns should be on those getting the guns illegally and those giving guns illegally. I'm all for that kind of gun control. The responsible gun owners aren't the ones you should be worried about. We're the ones who go through piles of paperwork to get it the legal way. You should be worried about the people out there dealing drugs to get money to buy guns for their gangs.
