Woo!

They posted the times for the Shamrock Run, and mine was 31:02, which beats my previous 5K time.  I made it in the top 25% of all women in the 5k.  I'm especially proud of the time because this time there were some actual inclines, not just flat.  Plus there were simply TOO MANY people, which means the first half of a mile or more was spent trying to push my way through the crowd while barely running at a jog, AND we got stopped at an intersection to let a fire engine through.  So I really beat my last time!

I don't think I'd do the Shamrock Run again unless they limit the number of participants.  There were apparently 20,000 or so people participating in the different events, with who knows how many doing the 5k.  I spent over 4 minutes after the air horn went off just waiting to be able to cross the start line.  Then, as I said, it was very slow going for quite a while, since it was just a wall of people.  Then, when the finish line got close, things got so clogged up that I actually had to stop and wait to cross the finish line.  And, of course, the weather was terrible.  I had fun doing that actual run, but the rest of it was no fun at all.

But my reward of a cheeseburger and milkshake was delicious!
