you know that dodgy aussie hiphop song about work? where he gets a speeding ticket, his house burns down and his life falls apart 'all because i had to go to work'?
Ever since we are born, we are subject to propaganda about the need to work for material possessions, as our possessions serve as a representation of how successful we are. There also seems to be this common thread amongst all this, where a vast majority of people hate their jobs. or at least get very little direct satisfaction from their work.
But...
I am really truy loving my job at the moment. really. it's awesome. I am so glad that UWA's School of Medicine rejected me. I am a happy chappy. It's not the school (though I'm sure that's part of it), it's not the staff, not the kids, but just my job. I love working in finite chunks of time, having to think on the spot, having to create abstract analogies, having to multitask like a maniac, having to work my brain in weird and wacky ways for many hours of each day. I'm just loving it.
that is all. Yes, it is a simple idea, but it's such an important one. I wish everyone was so lucky.
