What kind of cold/flu is that? o_O

I know the exact day it started because it's the first Saturday after my son and I received the H1N1 vaccine.
December 5th.

It started with sore throat. No big deal.
Then came sneezing. Predictable.
Then followed runny nose. Of course.
Then light cough. Makes sense.
Then productive cough. "Good, I'm getting rid of it", I thought.
Then the cough calmed. "Yay! I'm almost done!"
But then came...
Dry cough.

This is not going away.
It's gonna be 20 days. We're twice past the 7 to 10 days.

Now, have you tried getting an appointment with a physician around here, let alone go to a clinic that doesn't requires appointments? It is a living nightmare.

If you think waiting two hours is long...  Try 10 to 20 hours. I am not joking.

I had the same thing in spring 2007:
- It lasted 5 weeks.
- I lost 25 pounds.
- I missed 4 weeks of work.

I showed up in hospital on my own twice.
Both times, I was sent home with a pat on the shoulder.
The only exam I had both these times was heartbeat and pressure.

The 3rd visit to the hospital was different.
I was sent in ambulance after passing out repeatedly.
By then, I had already lost 25 pounds.
After being kept under observation for about 12 hours, I was sent home.
Still no medication, still no blood test. Heartbeat and pressure only.
Upon leaving, I received a reassuring pat on the shoulder with the famous patronizing smile meaning "Don't worry"...

I finally decided to turn to the private health care system. Y'know, the one that's not free?

That doc asked me what I had done so far. He was shocked when I told him about my visits to the hospital.

He prescribed me antibiotics.
3 days after my visit, I was already 50% better.
6 days after my visit, I was completely back on my feet.

Turns out it was a bacteria, not a virus.

Unfortunately, nobody else bothered to try or even simply verify, it was quicker to assume and to send me on my not-so-merry.

Had I known, I would have paid earlier for the private clinic - it would have saved me a lot of money lost in missing work.

~~~~~~~~~~
I'm both too pissed off and too frigging stubborn to fall. But I will not let this drag on 5 weeks. NO way.
2 nights ago, I coughed for 90 minutes in a row (didn't really sleep well, oddly enough).  Last night, I tried to sleep and I woke up the neighbors, coughing. I finally passed out at 7:30 am this morning.
So, am I gonna go to the hospital or a public clinic (where the waiting line starts at 6 am in the cold winter... BAH!) or will I pay for a visit in a private clinic?
Take a WILD guess.
Edit:
Needless to say, I didn't go back to Omer DeSerres today to buy stuff to decorate the gift wrapping...
