Tricorne

I felt like sewing so I tried a pattern from "From the neck up" by Denise Dreher. It was a pattern for a tricorne from the late 17th century that I enlarge 200% to make a small tricorne.

I used a placemat for buckram and covered it in silk fabric. I forgot to put a layer of flanell between so the silk shows the texture of the placemat. After assembling the pieces, that went really well, I tried to decide on decoration. I had a piece of lace that I like but it has been to short for most things, it worked well here. Then I made a rosette of a piece of velvet ribbon I had in the stash and put a button in the middle. To top it off I just stuck a feather in the side of the hat.
