The weather was gorgeous today, and easy to enjoy-- until you remember global warming and that it isn't supposed to be warm in early January...
I was downtown and at one point went into the Kramerbooks internet bar, looked up an address online, and had a cup of coffee. The barman, in a conversation with a guy, was expressing hardcore Zionist political beliefs, and had a tattoo saying "Remember, never forget" in Hebrew. When he took my order for coffee, he asked "Shall I get you cream for that, or do you prefer it the way God intended?" WTF? Anyway, I always drink it black. I was lucky, I got the first cup out of a fresh batch.
When I first walked in, a man wearing a suit and tie at the end of the bar started making moves on me. I ignored him and drank my coffee while he watched me. When I finished and went upstairs to the ladies' room, he followed me. Fortunately you have to get a token to enter the restrooms there (which was the whole reason I ordered something, to get a token). I had one and the door locked securely behind me. When I walked out again, that man was standing there waiting for me, and as I walked downstairs he followed. WTF? I quickened my pace out the door and looked back to see him still following. I was able to get away and around the corner. I quickly walked up Connecticut Avenue and lost him. I had my hand on my cell phone and nearly alerted the bar personnel on my way out. I hate bars.
