The first nice day every March is my favorite day of the year in Virginia. I grew up in Northern Ohio where the winter drags on through the whole month of March, seems to take forever to let go right about now. It was 55 and bright sun today. The feeling of spring like the land's energy just jumping right up out of its wintry bed, suddenly wide awake, is such a thrill every year, particularly since we just had a series of heavy snow and ice storms the past several weeks.
Every March, I go out the first nice day and just exult in the joyful earth energy, hear the birds singing, almost feel as if I can hear the trees and the grass singing too. I think how cold Arctic air still grips Cleveland--I just looked up the weather there, it was only 30 there today--freezing rain? Yuck! See what I mean?
Three of my friends converged on my house, from three different directions.
kesnit came first and kept me company while I made up, then two of my girlfriends joined us, one from work and one from SpiralHeart. It was the first time all three of them were meeting each other, the only thing they had in common was knowing me. We all went out for a late lunch at a nearby Thai place. There are several Thai restaurants here but none of them makes green curry as superbly as Tarin does, however Tarin happened to be closed at the time so we went to another. Sawat dii khâ! (Goodbye!) Sawat dii khâ! (Hello!)
Now I'm leaving for a Nova NSP meeting, I'm helping to found the group here. Grateful for the beauty of Mother Nature today, grateful for my friends, for this blessing of a happy life.
