student teaching
So the past couple of weeks have been quite interesting. School has offiically started 2 weeks ago but I am not going on campus at all this semester cuz all I ahve right now is student teaching. Anywyas i got placed in long beach district and i had asked fro torrance as my first choice and obviously got rejected....dont know why tho but i mena that wouldve been sweet. Anywyas about 3 weeks ago i got to meet my supervisor and she is extremely awesome! cant say nothing bad about her ands he makes me feel at ease like im not nervous especially since she will be grading me and has a say whether i pass student teaching or not. but i lucked out there i guess....
anyways so i got placed at signal hill elementary school in long beach and i got kindergarten!! i couldnt have been more excited simply cuz i would love to teach kinder. The first time I was in a kindergarten class was for my very first serve hours which werent set up by serve i had to go get 10 hours done on my own and i went to broad and then my first serve rotation was in kindergarten even tho i was supposed to get 1st grade but i remember when i met the principal at los cerritos he asked me what grade and i said kinder. well now im gonna be teaching kindergarten and i love it! the kids are simply awesome.....the first couple days they were really quiet for some reason maybe cuz i was someone new to them or maybe they figured i was only there for a day or so but now that ive been there for 2 weeks they have definitely gotten used to me and they are awesome.
so the first week i kinda just observed and waht not but last week i started doing open court lessons which is the phonics and letters and stuff. so that was fun and next week i get to do open court and math. so we'll see how that goes. but my master teacher is real nice as well and shes retiring this year! hahah go figure and she said i could have anything i wanted hahah score!! u know shes not gonna need anything after this year. and all the toher kindergarten teachers are awesome as well. i like them all. so the good thing is also is that im pretty much only going to be teaching for 4 hours since the kids are there from 810 to 1210. then about 1220 we get about 10 kids from another class for about 40 mins to do some guided reading. then after that we get that time to plan and prepare for the rest of the week. legally we cant leave til 218 when the whole school gets out. so yea. thats how my first couple of weeks have been going. now getting up early has been a pain for me but i think im slowly getting used to it
since ive been waking up early and what not i had my schedule at work set out to where im only working friday-sunday. i figure since kindergarten doesnt require me to do alot of planning and what not especially since alot of the lessons come from a book....i might pick up some shifts here and there. im in kinder til march 21 and then i start a new rotation in either 3-5 at another school. so im sure once im in those grades i wont be able to work during the week since i will have to plan more cuz the lessons are gonna be more involved then kinder level....
anywho....haha well i dont have much else to say since student teaching has been my major focus but im loving it and i really was scared that at some point i was gonna hate it and be like waht am i gonna do with my life if i hate it! and definitely the first day had me thinking that but it was cuz i was overwhelmed....but now that ive tught a couple of lessons i feel much better. anyways i have tomorow off since long beach get lincolns birthday and presidents day off so i shall be able to sleep in today!! haha. anywyas that it for me now but i thought id just update with my student teaching status
