Heating up the planet

May 02, 2007 15:03

A recent doco on Channel 4, asks viewers "Are you green? How many flights have you taken in the last year? Feeling guilty about all those unnecessary car journeys? Well, maybe there's no need to feel bad",

Apparently, "if the planet is heating up, it isn't your fault and there's nothing you can do about it."
And, "We've almost begun to take it for granted that climate change is a man-made phenomenon. But just as the environmental lobby think they've got our attention, a group of naysayers have emerged to slay the whole premise of global warming."

I dispute this, and I am not alone:

My inituition, and my own two eyes tell me that our daily activity, DOES have an impact on global warming.  This programme is misleading and inaccurate.  I will continue to 'do-my-bit' regardless of scientific findings to the contrary.  I will encourage those around me to do the same.

On 'Difference of Opinion - Cool Heads in a Warm World' on Monday night, they introduced a sketch/cartoon artist, to keep it lighthearted and nice.  I appreciate the sentiment, but let's be real and honest about it, we will all have to suffer the consequences eventually.

In the spirit of d-m-b, this week, I have decided that I am only going to have one shower a day, I will only wash my hair twice a week and I am going to sell my 'unfriendly' car ASAP.
