Twice this week I've "bailed" on people, telling them that I've decided to stay in rather than go out after having made plans, both times for lack of sleep. While in both cases I was honest and, I think, polite when explaining my reasons, on the first occasion I received understanding and on the second bitchy sarcasm. WTF. I'm assuming my reason for not going out was perceived as a dishonest blow-off in the second case. But seriously. I work goddamn vampire hours, and if I need to sleep I'm going to goddamn well do it. Ghhh.
But anyway. Spent some time this weekend looking at 911truth.org. Me and mom had previously seen a movie pushing the theory that the twin towers were brought down by thermite planted in the buildings rather than solely by the airplane strikes. 911truth.org and similar websites argue that the presence of
"molten steel" proves the use of thermite in the buildings. But no one in the conspiracy camp can prove that the molten metal in question actually is steel, and not aluminum. 911.truth also makes much ado over misunderstood quotes and misinformation in the early hours of 9/11---in the end, my experience with government and the military as a hopelessly incompetent, fumbling giant dissuades me from complicated conspiracy theories. Not that the administration hasn't hijacked the attacks for their own agenda. Their behavior post 9/11 just fuels the view that they must've caused the disaster.
Saw "Hannibal" today, and before that "Pan's Labyrinth" with Ginny. Pan's was a too violent but otherwise beautiful fantasy. Could've just suggested rather than directly shown much of the stabbing and such (the guy getting his cheek cut out). Hannibal, on the other hand, did not show enough.
For tonight: some pool at Metro.
