It is 1:50am at work and I am thinking about my future...There are several options I am thinking about for next year, among them:
1. Applying for a job as a police officer in Columbia or elsewhere (Chicago? Detroit?). Pros: good money, would boost resume. Cons: would tie me down to an area for a few years.
2. Getting my MSW, either here at Western Michigan University or at MU. Pros: Would increase my earning power. Cons: Would sink me deeper into debt, tie me to an area for a few years.
3. Getting a degree in nursing instead of social work. Pros: potential to make very good money and have lots of job opportunities. Cons: Again, more debt.
4. Rejoin military (this time active duty) in a medical or social work capacity. Pros: Opportunity to travel, good money, free training. Cons: Incredible loss of personal freedom. Have to participate in a war that I think is stupid.
What do I want from the next few years of my life? The opportunity to travel overseas? To be able to make 30+ thousand a year? More education? I don't think I want more schooling so much as a more robust resume. But anyway, these are just some ideas. I have awhile to sit on them and research some things.
In other news, I got a letter from little Rosco the other day;
I also got one from mom & dad...
The second letter is somewhat...disturbing. Rosco's penmanship and grasp of the English language seems to be increasing at the same rate that my parents' writing skills are decreasing. It is possible that some kind of bizarre role-reversal is going on. I worry what the situation will be like when I come home two weeks from now.
