This morning after work drove Ginny to Grand Rapids for a series of tests related to her future kidney transplant. I sat in on some of it and learned a little about this expensive, frustrating, but very rewarding procedure. Interesting stuff. While she did the rest of her stuff I slept in a closed office down the hall. We got done around 4pm and then went to dinner with her friend Adam, who we'd played scrabble with the other day. We met Adam at the Spartan Foods HQ where he works in marketing. Had dinner at a pizza place then relocated to a coffee shop for more scrabble & chocolate.
So what else is going on? Have been talking with potential landlord about the cheap studio apartment---free wifi, and he apparently agreed to a lower rent. So we shall see how this pans out. The place is very, very small. But cheap and within walking distance of my favorite nightclub (Metro, where I am now).
Saw "Adaptation" yeterday, a movie written by Charlie Kaufman who also did Being John Malkovitch, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and others... I recommend it---layered like an onion, made me wish Hollywood made more stuff like this. Some of the dialogue between Charlie and his twin brother Donald at the end of the movie was quite inspiring; Donald is remembering hitting on a pretty girl in high school. The more reserved and neurotic Charlie says something to the tune of "but she thought you were pathetic---she was making fun of you behind your back". Donald responds that "was her problem, not mine." Her dislike didn't invalidate his love for her and his right to feel how he wanted. Again, I wish they made more movies like this.
Goals for the rest of this week; continue plodding along at work, carving on Tiki Man.
