JoeZer Friday Funfact

Howdy and welcome to the ninth Friday of 2k13. I've taken on a personal challenge kind of thing and using Fridays to post a Fun Fact About JoeZer. Sometimes they may be silly...sometimes there may be some TMI...and other times there may be some touch of seriousness. Or, if you all are lucky, maybe ALL of that and more.

So...here we go...

I'm sure by now y'all know of my liking of the Disney theme parks in Florida. If not, then where have you been hiding all this time, eh??

One of my earliest memories of going to the park come from when my family was still living in Key West, FL and taking place sometime between October 1, 1971 and Summer 1972. My father and mother, the brave souls that they were, made the drive from Key West to Orlando with little 4 year old me and my not-quite 1 year old sister. Lord only knows how many times I asked "Are we there yet?" or if I even had a concept of where we were going at the time.

The biggest thing I can recall, which appears to be the only thing, is holding on to my mother for dear life out of fear while on the Haunted Mansion. Obviously, my reaction to being on that attraction has changed and evolved over the decades to one of having the Mansion as one of my all-time "musts" for each visit I make.

I loved the way my late-mother described LittleJoeZer's reaction at the time: "You were just like a baby spider monkey clinging to me so tightly. The way you had your arms wrapped around my neck your balloon string was almost choking me."

It's almost a wonder that I didn't have a life long phobia about theme parks as being places where children get fed to creepy robotic things. Instead, I make fun claiming the animatronics in "it's a small world" (yes, that is the correct way to type that...just Google images for signs of that attraction and see for yourself) are children that got lost in the park and were never claimed by their parents.
