So my assignment in poetry this week was to write a sonnet.. I was up for workshop and i got a pretty good review.. so i decided to post it here..

I Saw It Coming

I tell you I saw it coming.
Your eyes couldn't hold back the truth
the one last quality I found becoming.
Forgetting mistakes we made as youth
learning to cope when all is lost
From your door to my car it's so
cold outside. I'm covered with frost.
Only trust as far as I could throw
Taking risks and getting hurt
not everything is meant to work
For now i'll wear my heart on my shirt
in shadows haunting memories lurk
I've found something few long to possess
Vacant eyes, and a failure to profess.
